Dr. Martin Strohbach is a Senior Researcher at AGT Group (R&D), Darmstadt, Germany where he is responsible for Big Data systems research. He received his PhD in computer science from Lancaster University, UK in the area of ubiquitous and pervasive computing and holds an MSc in Computing from Karlsruhe University, Germany. Martin's research interests are centred around IoT and Big Data systems and includes sensor based systems ranging from smart environments to large scale distributed systems. He is particularly interested in application frameworks and programming abstractions that simplify application development. He has filed several patents and published in major conferences and magazines and has lead and supported technology transfer projects. Martin has over 10 years of experience in conducting research in EU projects in the field of Embedded Sensing Middleware, Internet of Things (IoT), context-aware systems and Big Data. Currently he is leading the Data Storage technical working group in the BIG - Big Data Public Private Forum CSA project.
