Erietta Liarou

Dr. Erietta Liarou is a postdoctoral researcher at the Data-Intensive Applications and Systems (DIAS) lab of EPFL, and works with Prof. Anastasia Ailamaki. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2013. During her Ph.D. studies she was a researcher at the Database Architectures research group of the Dutch National Research Center for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI). She also worked for both the System S group in IBM T.J.Watson Research Center, Hawthorne, NY, USA and the Intelligent Systems Laboratory in Technical University of Crete, Greece. She received a Diploma and an M.S. degree in Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, Greece, in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Erietta has co-authored the paper that won the VLDB 2011 Challenges & Visions Track Best Paper Award. She serves as a reviewer at major international conferences and journals, e.g., TKDE, VLDB, ICDE, EDBT and WISE. Erietta’s primary research interests include database architectures, data-stream processing, distributed query processing, and data analytics with emphasis on very large data management.
